Importance of Emotional Intelligence in Nursing :: Nursing Reflective Practice
Nurses are the caregivers in hospitals that tend to stand out in comparison with other healthcare professionals. They are constantly on the front lines of the battle to maintain an optimal environment for the wellbeing of their patients. For instance, more than a year ago, I was visiting a friend and her young daughter, who had a heart transplant before the age of two, at the Stollery Childrenââ¬â¢s hospital. I clearly saw how a nurse and her nurturing characteristics, she had shown with her young patient, distinguished her from the other health care professionals. The nurseââ¬â¢s exemplifying and loving interactions with her client show clear links between emotional intelligent, the childââ¬â¢s environment and personal knowing, one of Carperââ¬â¢s four patterns of knowing in nursing. During a patientââ¬â¢s stay in the hospital the way they interact with their environment is an important factor in their health. Burger and Goddard (2009) acknowledged that a good environment for patients meets their physical needs, and keeps them emotionally comfortable and safe (p.249). Furthermore factors such as noise, distractions and lack of privacy or space cause confusion, tension and discomfort (p.249). Although, identifying that health is influenced by environment strays away from the medical model of health which conceptualized ââ¬Å"the bodyâ⬠¦ being disconnected from the mind, soul, and social and environmental contexts or settingsâ⬠(Young, & Wharf-Higgins, 2009, p. 51). Health involves more than just the body, but also the mind. It has been proven there is ââ¬Å"a relationship between the experience of chronic stress and increased susceptibility to the common cold (Williams, & Iruita, 2004, p.807). These finding strengthen the fact that the mind and bod y are connected. Generally speaking, it is significant for healthcare professional, especially nurses to monitor the environment and be aware of issues that many affect the patient physically, emotionally and mentally. In particularly with my friendââ¬â¢s child who had the heart transplant providing the most favorable environment is important because along with the heart transplant the child is now immune depressant. Regardless of the child being immune depressant the link between her body and her mind is noteworthy. Williams, and Iruita (2005) noted the body is influenced by psychosocial influences and that the body can produce certain type of hormone that is cause elicited by emotional status (p. 807). Moreover they wrote that stress has been related to some autoimmune disorders, and positive emotions have been discovered to boost average immunoglobulin levels (p.

Esports Essay
E-Sports is the perfect industry for someone who is motivated, driven and passionate about competitive gaming to become involved with. E-Sports is an industry submersed in the gaming industry where competitive gamers can make a living by playing in tournaments and leagues as professional athletes, much like a professional athlete would in mainstream sports such as football or hockey. The points that make it such an enticing venture are not simply that you are able to play video games for a living, but the equality, passion and opportunities that help create and define the industry.Fair play on a global capacity is something not regularly seen in this era. With so many groups defining who people are or arenââ¬â¢t, finding something that has the ability to include everyone no matter what their race, religion or gender is, is truly inspiring. Being able to be a part of something so revolutionary that can, if given the opportunity and acceptance, could literally change the way we as p eople see and interact with the world around us. In many sports such as tennis or football ââ¬âsoccer for Americans- there are divisions of age and gender, not to mention the logistical problems of competing globally. With so many restrictions forced upon people in sports it is not surprising that preconceived notions such as male superiority or you dominance are still widely accepted. E-Sports on the other hand allows you to compete with men, women, children, adults, black, white, atheist or Muslim; these sort of restrictions donââ¬â¢t exist making E-Sports a truly fair and equal platform for not only competition but as an industry as a whole. The state of being connected globally opens many doors for you as well.Whether you wish to continue on playing as a professional gamer, or whether you have different ambitions of being a journalist, or the CEO of a company, or even just a job in marketing or graphic design; E-Sports offers this and more. As well there is a clear opportu nity to begin networking at a very young age if you desire. For instance if you wish to go into journalism, you may wish to work at an E-Sports media outlet or team organization writing articles and providing coverage at events.Or perhaps you would like to pursue a future in business, for this you may wish to join a media outlet or team organization in a different capacity such as a manager, PR officer or the head of marketing. Through these ââ¬âand other- jobs within the industry you will be able to begin networking with large corporations and organizations who are involved in the industry developing personal relationships which can last a lifetime. Being able to network and develop your business skills in a real world capacity can help advance your education as well as your career. This leads us to passion and motivation and whether or not you have the desire and will to pursue your dreams. E-Sports is an industry built on passion, where people do what they do because they love doing it. Living your life by someone elseââ¬â¢s rules is not really living your life; you need to follow your passion to be happy. The beauty of E-Sports is that it is so diverse, from the people involved to the variety of professional opportunities available to you.It is very easy to meet people with similar interests and gain a new perspective on the things you love. One aspect of E-Sports that stands out above most others is traveling and competing in events. The passion and determination of professional gamers is incredibly high; not knowing if they will make it out of the group stage and have the chance at the $45,000 available for first place that they desperately need to pay the bills and continue on playing creates a lot of passion and drive to play their best and win. This passion only spills over into the business side of the industry, as the behind the scenes people are just as passionate about developing and improving the industry as a whole. A constant hunger for im provement and success fills the E-Sports industry making it very lucrative for passionate young gamers. The only limitations you have are the ones you place upon yourself, so as long as you are passionate and dedicated, you will have a chance to succeed and accomplish your dreams. Overall E-Sports is a small industry, however it makes up for it with its various aspects. Many people overlook E-Sports simply because it is competitive video gaming and the people involved are construed as social introverts. However that is not the case and their ignorance impedes them from seeing what E-Sports really is; people coming together because of their common passion, creating a fair and truly global phenomenon. It is these essential building blocks ââ¬âequality, opportunity and passion- that create an industry that is perfect for someone who is passionate and motivated towards competitive gaming.

7-Eleven Store Experiment
Has one ever pondered the possible interest in the typical bustle and commotion of a public venue or its perceivable feel left impressed upon the customers? To truly acquire a fascination of a place or gather a perception of the environment, observation and experience are vital. For a short period of approximately thirty minutes, I observed my former employer, 7-Eleven, in the town of Old Bethpage. I even experienced the point of view of the customer by purchasing a variety of beverages and hot food. Based upon my half an hour spent at the store, I recognized a diverse culture of customers, abnormal activity, and a warm, welcoming ambiance. As my friend and I approached the 7-Eleven store in my silver two-door Honda Civic, I noticed a couple of observations. For example, the retailer was in the process of receiving a vitamin water delivery from two African American males. Also, as this process was underway, the rest of the store was buzzing with business and chatter. The Plainview Wat er District employees, decked out in blue and white shirts with bright yellow safety vests draped over their clothes, had just entered briefly and all the white males exited with each his own large coffee. While realizing the environment outside the venue, I chose a parking spot nearest the corner exit on the East side. My friend Anthony and I decided to purchase some refreshments and feel out the inside of 7-Eleven before surveying for the full time allotted.Amidst entering the building, one couldn't help but feel comfortable and at home. The employees greeted us instantaneously by means of wide smiles and enthusiasm in helping others. One tall worker named Sam persuaded me to try a flavored and even discounted the beverage when I paid. The coffee smelled of flavorful aromas. The aromas that come with fresh, smoldering coffee beans. I could smell hazelnut, french vanilla, and pumpkin spice. After fixing myself a delicious, mouth-watering pumpkin spice coffee with whipped cream and caramel, I also bought tasty, delectable, greasy wings and an Arizona iced tea. Anthony purchased an Arizona iced tea as well along with a fresh pack of Newport cigarettes. We then bid farewell to the employees, manager, and the owner too, and exited the retailer to the old familiar

A different type of family
ââ¬Å"Seventy-five and back!â⬠Do not hesitate, just react. You have done this before. Push off your hands, stand up! One foot over the other, look straight ahead. Your destination is the seventy-five yard line for the time being. When you get there, you have a new destination; back to your starting point. Just keep up, donââ¬â¢t trip, and definitely donââ¬â¢t let your knee give out. Finish first and lay back down on your stomach, hands behind your back, face in the grass. You wouldnââ¬â¢t want to cheat. ââ¬Å"Fifty and back.â⬠Do not give up, Annie. You could just tell the team that your knee cannot take another sprint, the brace in getting loose, but donââ¬â¢t you dare do that, you are better than that. ââ¬Å"End line and back.â⬠Another long one. Maybe a twenty-five yard line sprint would be nice just once. You should just quit, you donââ¬â¢t need to go through this. Why should we be punished this way for losing just one game? One little goal scored on us and this is what happens? Itââ¬â¢s not like you could even play. You just sat there watching your team from the sideline making mistake after mistake, minute after minute until the final whistle blew. It was over and now you are paying. Everyone else is at the football game. It is Homecoming and your classmates are sitting under the Friday night lights. You could be one of them, you know. Do you hear the band playing? Do you hear the crowds cheering? All those happy people are right up there on the field, undoubtedly not sweaty and tired, certainly not muddy and out of breath. No, you do not need this. Walk away. Say ââ¬Å"goodbye Coach, goodbye team, I do not need this.â⬠ââ¬Å"Fifty and back!â⬠Actually, you do need this. You just had a temporary mental breakdown, a momentary lapse in judgment. This team, this family, this punishment, West Essex Field Hockey is all you know. You do need this. Coach does this for a reason, to make us better. We do need to play as a team and this is how we learn. We learn by being broken down as individuals so we realize we need each other to build back up again. She is right again; this is how we are taught a lesson. ââ¬Å"End line and back!â⬠There is more there, Annie, you have more left inside of you. No, you are not dying, get a grip. This is what she means when she tells us to give it our all every second we are given. We should have just done that from the start. We are winners. We are state champions. How could we let ourselves down like that? We are not losers. ââ¬Å"Seventy-five and back!â⬠These girls running beside you are the best friends that you will ever have. You are all in this together. They are with you now and will be with you forever, they will run with you forever. Black, white, and red are the only colors in your world. Your school, your team, and your coach who treats you as she does her own children, are all you have right now. Remember that. ââ¬Å"Go home.ââ¬

What is Wikileaks, what was the government doing that leaked, what did Essay
What is Wikileaks, what was the government doing that leaked, what did they try to hide military. Is this managed news or not - Essay Example The website leaked governmentââ¬â¢s secretive communications regarding their operations. Governments were engaged in ill communications like recommending unjust actions to tame the rebellious groups. Particularly, the governments were playing a tricky game with the public by adopting concealed plans that appeared just to escape public pressures tactically. This website hence leaked the concealed legitimacy about such plans. Indeed, leaks from the website presented the real motive behind the governmentsââ¬â¢ operations. The government did not provide the military with the truth behind their directions. Particularly, the government could not disclose information that they considered sensitive. Such information was to remain a reserve of few trusted officers in the administration. The military in the ground could only obtain virtual information considered to have minimal influence on the governmentââ¬â¢s procedures. The rationale behind the wiki-leaks has faced strong challenges. Most people argue that wiki-leaks are mainly managed news. This is a rational claim since with worldââ¬â¢s politics; managing news is a probable practice. However, wiki-leaks are not necessarily managed news since they information unveiled by the source is somewhat credible. Indeed, the information from the source emerges as a real ââ¬Å"leakageâ⬠. Therefore, wiki-leaks information makes considerable sense hence should not be dismissed as

Topic of the paper will focus on a criminal case that has been adjudicated by the United States Supreme Court and has implications on the criminal justice system - Essay Example The court thus proceeded to assign him one by the name of Kirk McAllister who was a veteran defense lawyer. As the case proceeded, however, Scott Peterson later stated that he would be able to afford a private attorney after all and hired the services of Mark Geragos who had handled other high profile cases similar to his (Crier & Thompson, 2005). The judge appointed to the case later on moved the trial from Modesto, California where the crime had been committed to Redwood City in the year 2004 due an increase in hostility towards the defendant (Scott Peterson). The judge felt that due to this hostility, the judge felt that Scott would not be able to receive a fair trial in Modesto as individuals in that region had already perceived him as guilty and it would have been impossible to get a non bias jury in that area (Beratlis et al, 2007). The hostility was due to the type of coverage that the case received from the media. (Bird, 2005) The news had already portrayed Scott Peterson as an inhumane individual who was accountable for the death of an innocent woman and an unborn child. They covered the story as if the defendant was guilty, and the process of the trial was just a preliminary to the inevitable end result of a guilty verdict. In order to ensure that Scott Peterson would be able to get a fair trial, the judged moved the case to another area away from Modesto, where the residents felt bereaved as they had lost one of their own. It should b noted, however, that the coverage of the country was country wide, and thus it cannot be said how much the move changed matters in terms of the defendants portrayal (Beratlis et al, 2007). The main witness of the prosecution also hired her own attorney who played a big role as a sympathizer to the prosecution as she was not bound by the gag order that prohibited the others who were involved
